Alanya is currently preparing for the 12th International New Year Market, which It is being organized by Alanya Municipality and will take place at the harbour, just behind the municipal hall. This event will be held on Saturday, December 10, and Sunday, January 11, 2022, between 12:00 and 24.00.
Market facilities
This market lasts two days and features a variety of wares, from souvenirs to food. Promotion stands will be set up to present other foreign cultures. The festival will also feature performances and concerts on the stage. The Alanya International New Year Market was established 12 years ago by the Alanya Municipality and the Foreigners Assembly (New Alanya residents), who use its income to benefit disabled people. You will also find many handmade crafts, fresh fruits and veggies. From the harbour to the center of the town, the market area extends, that is a popular place to shop for souvenirs and food in Alanya. The area will host visual shows, as well as souvenirs, concerts, stage performances, children’s activities, and Christmas tree. This market is a great example of tolerance culture and solidarity and is a must-see.
New Year culture
Turkey’s New Year (Yılbaşı), was only officially recognized and celebrated in 1981. The government made January 1 a holiday, but not the Christmas. Locals enjoyed a quiet holiday meal as new year dinner with their families.
